Could Magnesium benefit you?

As most of you know I took a long vacation from blogging. During this time I was experiencing daily migraines, anxiety, difficulty sleeping, and difficulty focusing. I always seemed to be so tired, but could never fall asleep. It had a huge impact on my life, my work, and my relationships with others. I had been to my doctor multiple times and was placed on medication for depression, sleep, and migraines. Sadly the Topamax for migraines made me more forgetful than I already was and the sleeping medicine made me feel groggy every morning.

I had mentioned to my doctor that I thought some of my problems may be related to some sort of vitamin deficiency, but all of the blood work came back fine. I had no idea what else to do.

One day I made a stop at the local health food store, Healthy Habits. This was the best thing I could have done. The owner of the store was very knowledgeable in vitamin and mineral supplements. She recommended Natural Calm (magnesium supplement) and a food based energy multi-vitamin. At this point I would have tried anything and I am so glad that I did.

After reading up on Magnesium deficiencies I learned that every symptom I was experiencing could be a direct result of a deficiency. I also learned that blood work could show adequate magnesium levels even if you are suffering from this deficiency since the majority of magnesium is used intracellularly. Magnesium has a huge impact on our bodies and could easily be overlooked. Magnesium can have direct impacts on blood sugar, blood pressure, cardiovascular health, stress management and more.

Many people in the United States are magnesium deficient and do not realize it. Wikipedia actually states that "61% of the US population does not meet the US RDA for levels of magnesium." Magnesium deficiency can cause lots of medically related symptoms that could be treated simply with a Magnesium supplement.

If you are experiencing any of the problems that I have mentioned earlier than you may want to look into a magnesium supplement. I am so glad that I did!

Oh I am going to try this. I have had migraines for years and nobody knows why as my testing always comes back fine. Thanks for the tip and glad your feeling better.

that is so funny that you wrote about this topic. I was just reading a health book about magnesium deficiency and how without magnesium our bodies can't absorb calcium. There are some really good food sources of magnesium that would allow your body enough without taking a supplement. Some of them are brown rice and certain types of nuts. Though I don't remember which kinds right off the top of my head...I'm thinking they were walnuts and pecans. I'd have to double check that though. I do know it isn't peanuts.
