Dora the Explorer Super Babies Dream Adventure DVD review!

Brea absolutely loves Dora so doing a review of Dora the Explorer Super Babies Dream Adventure was a great opportunity for us. In the main feature "Super Babies Dream Adventure" Dora is having trouble getting her new twin siblings to sleep so they start out on an adventure to find the Dream Fairy. While they are on their way they find that lots of other babies are having the same problem with naps. Super Babies come to the rescue of not only the other sleepy babies, but also for Dora and Boots!

In addition to the featured story there are 3 other episodes on Dora the Explorer Super Babies' Dream Adventure.

Dora Helps the Birthday Wizzle

Pirate Treasure Hunt

Benny's Treasure

As alwys there are lots of learning opportnities provided in each episode. Some examples are spanish, colors, math, matching skills, and more.

Our opinion of Dora the Explorer Super Babies' Dream Adventrue . . .

Brea of course loved Dora the Explorer Super Babies' Dream Adventure! Of course that is a given since Brea loves anything with Dora in it!

I really enjoyed Dora the Explorer Super Babies' Dream Adventure DVD. It provided excellent educational opportunities for Brea. I love that Dora interacts with the watchers and provides them the opportunity to give the answer before the movie gives it. While Brea is not old enough to provide all of the answers requested I do believe that Brea has learned from watching Dora. Brea is 21 months old and can count to 8, reconignize numbers 1-5, and reconignize some of her ABCs. Of course we have also worked together on all of these, but even when I can't get her to review things with me she will with Dora!

Now I just need to see if Dora has a movie based solely on counting! Anyone know the answer?

Lil Lewis Travel Pillow for kids Review and Giveaway!

I have been looking for something to make Brea more comfortable when she is stuck in the car or stroller for nap time. So I was thrilled when I got the opportunity to do a review for Lewis N. Clark for the Lil Lewis travel pillows. These pillows are shaped like any other neck pillow I have seen except these are made to resemble animals! These pillows are fiber filled and provide head and neck support to our traveling little ones.

Our Opinion of Lil Lewis travel pillows . . .

Lil Lewis travel pillows rate high in our household. We received the gorilla travel pillow to review. It was comfortable and worked excellent as a neck pillow, but is also soft and cuddly for when the kids are awake. I love that we now have a comfortable way for Brea to nap when we are on-the-go and that it will also double as a toy for when she is awake. What more could a mom ask for?

Brea loves her "monkey pillo" as she says. Brea has always needed to rub someone's arm or have someone rub her feet in order to fall asleep. As you can imagine this can be very difficult when driving and sometimes she has to cry herself to sleep. I feel so bad when this happens, but sometimes it is unavoidable. As you may notice in the pictures Brea has now found an alternative she is rubbing the gorilla pillows face. This may not work all of the time, but I will be eternally grateful for the times that it does work. Brea also enjoys playing with her "monkey" when she is not using it for nap times and may be seen riding around in her stroller quite frequently this summer playing with her gorilla pillow!

I must also send a word of caution that while my daughter is 21 months old the travel pillows do caution that the pillows are "Not for children under 3 years of age" There are no buttons or other things that could be considered choking hazards noted from my review of the gorilla pillow.

Cherie also wanted me to share that " all our pillows meet CPSIA guidelines, including the most
recent, more stringent requirements."

Sometimes in the midst of tragedy there is a miracle to be found!

Today as I was getting ready to check out my email a news headline jumped out at me "5 year old survives jet crash." Of course I had to take to the time to read this story and while it was heartbreaking it also included a miracle.

A plane carrying 153 people crashed into the Indian Ocean. Apparently either a 5 year old boy or a 14 year old girl was found alive within the wreckage. At the time of the article no other survivors had been reported.

I ask that all of my readers take a moment and pray for the people who were on the plane and for their families. I hope that they found both the 5 year old and the 14 year old and will be praying to that effect. Also pray that more survivors will be found during the search and resque mission!

YoBaby Yogurt Review and Giveaway!

YoBaby yogurt takes care of all our babie's yogurt needs and more! Not only are they made with whole milk, which is very important to our little one's growth and development, but also have lots of great extras!

First our babies need whole milk products for the saturated fats and cholesterol. Yes I know that is just the things that we have been told over and over to stay away from, but up until age 2 pediatricians recommend whole milk products. Have you ever checked out other kid's yogurts on the market? Most are made with low fat and not suitable for children under age 2. To be honest I think that if you look around your yogurt section in the supermarket most yogurts are low fat. So this makes Yo Baby one of your only options that take the whole milk recommendation into account.

YoBaby yogurt is also made from organic ingredients meaning that no toxic or persistent chemicals have been used on any grains or fruits included in the cereal and the cows providing the milk have only been fed organic feed and are not given antibiotics!

YoBaby yogurt also provides products that have Iron or DHA added. Iron is important in preventing anemia and DHA is good for brain development.

Our thoughts on Yo Baby Yogurt -

First I have to say I love it for all of the reasons listed above, but lets be honest how likely is it that my child will actually eat it?

Well thanks to YoBaby I had the opportunity to find out. Yo Baby sent Brea and I two free coupons for review purposes. We chose the YoBaby Plus Fruit & Cereal with Iron. The flavors included were apple and mixed berry.

So when it was Brea's snack time I pulled out the YoBaby in mixed berry and we sat down to eat. She gobbled it down in no time and then asked for more. So then I pulled out the apple and once again she gobbled in down.

Of course while I was feeding her I became curious and had to try it myself. After all how could I truly review it if I had no idea how it actually tasted. Well I was pleasantly surprised the mixed berry tasted just like any other mixed berry yogurt and the apple has an apple cinnamon flavor and it was really yummy.

I also want to mention that they have YoBaby drinkables that you can put in sippy cups! How cool is that!

Buy it at most local grocery stores!

Great opportunity from Dapper Snappers!

Dapper snappers are a nifty little products that keep Brea's pants from falling around her ankles! Brea is 90th percentile for heighth and 25th percentile for weight. As you can imagine there are a lot of times she is in between sizes. Dapper snapper has fixed that and now her clothes can fit comfortably and not be too short!

You can read my previous review of Dapper Snappers here.

Sometimes Brea really amazes me!

Last night, Brea and I, were watching Barney on the Roku box. All of a sudden she looked up at me and said one over and over. I had absolutely no idea what she was talking about. When I asked her she pointed to the TV and said two. I am still at a loss, but then I realize that the Barney movie we are watching is the second in the line-up. After turning it to the first Barney movie and starting it Brea gets this huge smile on her face and says "One" pointing at the screen. I am amazed that she came up with this to express which movie she wants to watch!

Skin MD review and giveaway!

As most of you know I work full time as a registered nurse. I wash my hands a lot and they usually end up really dry and irritated. I am always looking for great skin care product to use. When I received the opportunity to review Skin MD sheilding lotion I could not wait to try it!

Unlike moisturizing lotions Skin MD sheilding lotion + SPF 15 not only provides moisture, but also provides an invisible barrier to keep natural moisture in and chemicals out! While this sounds like a great idea I did not have my hopes up. After all I have tried many things to no avail.

Skin MD has also been dermatologist approved for Ezcema patients.

My thoughts on Skin MD . . .
I was pleasantly surprised to find that I really like Skin MD sheilding lotion and that it worked! I can use Skin MD on my hands before going into work, wash my hands all day long, and they are still smooth and soft when I leave.

I love that Skin MD sheilding lotion + SPF 15 continues to protect my hands even after the initial application!

I am so relieved to have Skin MD and for once I am not dreading the winter. In the winter my hands get so dry they become cracked and sore. So sore in fact that it is difficult to move my hands without wanting to cry. With Skin MD I am confident that this winter I can prevent all of that and still have clean hands!

Mosquito bites and bad words!

My 21 month old Brea got two huge mosquito bites today. She began scratching her ankle a little bit ago and after I looked at her foot I realized what they were. I asked her if they itched and she began saying itch over and over again. The problem is her itch doesn't sound like itch.

The poor girl was scratching her ankle say "b_ _ _ h" over and over again. I kept trying to reiterate that it was itch. Of course that didn't work a bit.

Well at least I know what she means even if no one else does!

I would love to hear your cute toddler talk!

Music for Me & More Review

My daughter loves music and dancing so when I received an opportunity to review a personalized CD from Music for Me & More I was thrilled. Music for Me & More provides personalized books, cds, phone calls, letters, and now DVDs! They have lots of different options with something available for everyone.

Most of the products are learning based. So while your child is hearing their name and enjoying music or reading they are also being introduced to important life lessons!

Not only do they have products available in English, but you can also find a wide variety of Spanish!

My thoughts on Music for Me & More . . .
For our review I chose the Fun Time Bible stories CD! I am always looking for new and interesting ways to introduce my little one to God and this was perfect. It has lots of songs from when I was little and some that I have not personally heard of. I enjoyed each and every one and some brought back some really good memories of my childhood.

All of the songs are children related and each one was personalized in some way with Breanna's name. Sometimes this was in the introduction to the song and other times it was incorporated into the song. The personalization was done with thought and did not take away from the songs in any way.

The name list provided on the site also provides the pronunciation of each name. The way that I say Brea's full name was actually spelled a different way on the website. After choosing the spelling with the proper pronunciation I was contacted because they wanted to be sure of the pronunciation. So in the end I received a CD with both the proper pronunciation and spelling! If your child's name is said differently than the pronunciation provided contact the company and they may be able to work with you.

Breanna really enjoyed hearing her name in the songs and I am sure that we will be listening to this CD for many years to come. I think that this will be a great way for her to learn about the Lord and am grateful for the opportunity to review this CD.

I am really looking forward to the phone calls from Santa in the years to come!

Go check out Music for Me & More you are sure to find something great for a child in your life!

Safe Sippy 2 Review and Giveaway!

I was really excited to hear that safe sippy is now introducing the Safe Sippy 2 to the world! The safe sippy 2 has all of the great features as the safe sippy, but also includes a travel plug, a travel cap, and even a straw adapter! I think this is a great idea. Now when Brea finally masters the straw I already have everything I need to convert this from a sippy to a "big" girl cup!

The safe sippy was designed with our children's health in mind!

There is very little plastic that comes in contact with the water or juice. The straw is made of plastic, but is BPA, phthalates, and DEHA free! Their reasoning for using a plastic straw is that no one wants to "suck on a stainless steel straw." I have to say they got me on that one. It would probably be extremely uncomfortable.

The Safe Sippy 2 also has removable easy grip handles and a "tapered waist" both of which keep little hands in mind. Speaking of hands lets not forget the thermoplastic rubber sleeve placed over most of the safe sippy. As we all know stainless steel gets cold and it would be extremely uncomfortable to hold onto a stainless steel cup with ice cold liquid inside! The thermoplastic shield prevents the outside of the sippy from getting too cold for our children's hand.

My opinion . . .
For review purposes I used the safe sippy as a sippy cup and it worked wonderfully. This is the first time I have used any stainless steel cup and was surprised to find that I loved it. It is super easy to clean and dishwasher safe (big plus for me I hate hand washing dishes!)

I also love the fact that there is very little plastic coming in contact with any liquids in the cup. With all the scary things I have heard about plastic less means better!

I was interested in why the Safe Sippy 2 has a straw shaped spout instead of the usual sippy cup spouts. I was surprised to find that the wider spouts may cause speech problems and other physical problems associated with the mouth. So the straw shaped spout is another definite plus.

The only problem I noticed was that when I turned the cup upside down is did have a very slow drip. Not really a problem in my house as Brea is usually pretty good with keeping the cup upright. To be honest I don't believe we have ever had a sippy cup that did not drip at all and most drip quite a bit for that matter!

All in all I would have to say that the benefits of the Safe Sippy 2 are excellent and I would definitely recommend this to other moms!

My Body Belongs To Me Review! Preventing Sexual Abuse in Children

As most of you know I work full time as a registered nurse at a psychiatric hospital for children. As you can imagine I have dealt with many children who are traumatized from sexual abuse.

As parents we like to tell ourselves that this will not happen to our children. After all we are careful and observant. Sadly sometimes this is not enough. While parents attempt to protect their children from getting hurt or abused sometimes we are unsuccessful.

You can look at some statistics at Darkness to light. Darkness to Light is an organization who provides information and prevention ideas regarding sexual abuse. Their statistics are quite scary. They say that 1 out of every 4 girls and 1 out of 6 boys are sexually abused before the age of 18. Those are staggering numbers!

One recommendation for preventing sexual abuse is TALKING about it. Lets be honest though how comfortable are most parents with discussing sexual abuse with our children. This is a hard, but I think that the hardest part would be introducing the topic.

Jill Starishevsky, who wrote "My Body Belongs to Me," makes the introduction a lot easier. This book is geared toward 3 to 10 year olds, but I for one have already started reading it to my 21 month old. Sexual abuse can start at any age and I want my child to be aware that someone touching her "private parts" is NOT okay!

This book provides necessary information to your child about what to do if someone touches his/her "private parts." In addition to the story Jill also provides parents with suggestions on how to use this book, why she thinks it is important, and some organizations available to help with both prevention and abuse.

My opinion . . .

I think that this book is a must have for all parents. The most important thing as a parent is keeping our children safe and teaching them about the dangers in the world. This book will be an excellent resource in doing just that!

Buy it: http://www.MyBodyBelongsToMe.com/

(I did receive a copy of "My Body Belongs to Me" for review purposes. No other compensation was received for this review)

Zout Stain Remover Review and Giveaway!

I have never been much for laundry stain removers, but since having a toddler I really need it. Brea's poor clothes are always covered in stains. So when I received an opportunity to review Zout Triple Enzyme Stain Remover I jumped on it!

Zout includes not one, but three enzymes that target different types of stains. This insures that most stains are covered without having to buy multiple products.

The enzyme information was obtained from the Zout website and the bottle of the review Zout!

1. Amylase - Amylase is used to remove stains such as baby food, chocolate syrup, tomato sauce, and BBQ sauce
2. Protease - Protease is used to remove grass, blood, and baby formula stains.
3. Lipase - Lipase is used to remove butters, dressings and oils.

Zout is said to be safe on all colorfast clothing and recommends testing clothing before use if you are unsure if it is colorfast.

My thoughts on Zout . . .

This week Brea stained up a couple of really good outfits with lots of culprits. We had blueberry, grass, and multiple other food stains. These stains occurred on different days so I only took a before and after picture of one outfit, but they both had amazing results.

The first outfit was a cute little lightweight summer outfit that Brea had gotten blueberry stains all down the leg. I thought this outfit was a goner! When we arrived home I sprayed the outfit with Zout, but since I was not doing clothes right then I laid it on the washer for later. I had every intention of washing clothes that evening, but I got busy with other things and forgot. So two days later when I went to wash clothes the outfit was still setting on the washer. Since the directions said to leave the stain remover for 5 minutes I was now sure the outfit was a ruined. I read the laundry instructions and it said to hand wash. I am sorry, but I have always been lazy and for me this means delicate cycle in the washer and hang to dry. I am thrilled to say that each and every blueberry stain was gone when I pulled the clothes out of the washer!

Please remember that Zout does not recommend leaving the stain remover on the clothing for long periods of time

The second outfit had a grass stain on one knee from playing outside and the shirt had multiple food stains from a baby shower we had attended. I was so tired when we got home from the baby shower that I just put Brea's PJs on and went to bed. The next day I went to wash the clothes and once again I thought they were ruined. After all they had been sitting for a day and a half surely the stains had set. I sprayed the stained areas of the clothing with Zout, rubbed it in, and let it set for 5 minutes all per the directions. Then I threw it in with the other clothes and washed in cold water. I was really happy with the results and actually have before and after pictures to share with you.

Before Zout

After Zout

The shirt came completely clean it looks brand new!

I promise all of the pants pictures are of the same pants I have no idea why they are all different colors! Anyway you can't see it really well here but there is still a very small spot where the large grass stain was originally. I don't think that you would even notice it if you did not already know it was there. It definitely made them wearable again!

All Small and Mighty Review and Giveaway!

Thanks to MomSelect I have a great opportunity to introduce my readers to All Small & Mighty! You have probably seen All Small & Mighty in the stores before, but now it comes in a 96 load container! I have been using All laundry detergent for quite some time and I usually buy it in bulk size. So when I received the All Small and Mighty 96 load detergent I was amazed at how small and compact the container was. Not only is this an exciting development for your laundry room, but also for the environment.

Smaller packaging = less waste!

In case you are unfamiliar with All Small & Mighty let me give you a few facts from their website.
- It is 3x concentrated
- Available in Free Clear, Wild & Fresh, Stainlifter, Essence of Snuggle, Relax & Refresh, and Fresh Rain!
- One small capful does the job
- Is available in 32 and 96 loads

I received the All Small and Mighty free clear! I love free clear because it is made without "dyes, perfumes, enzymes, or preservatives." This means that it is great for sensitive skin and even "dermatologist recommended." It works just as well as the original All free & clear, which is the detergent I am used to using. My clothes smell clean and fresh. What more could I ask for?

I am also excited because every type of All Small & Mighty listed above is available in the 96 load bulk sizes. So even though I will not be buying laundry detergent very often I am really glad that when I need to replenish my supply I can change up the scents a little bit.

Speaking of scents I would also like to mention that Wild & Fresh, Stainlifter, Essence of Snuggle, Relax & Refresh, and Fresh Rain all have "Timed Release Freshness." I have not tried any of these, but it sure sounds nice!

This is definitely a product that I would encourage others to check out! In addition to positives mentioned above it also retails for a good price. So next time your shopping for laundry detergent take a peek at All Small & Mighty before making your decision!

Michael Jackson RIP!

While I never could have been called a hard core Michael Jackson fan, I have always loved the thriller video. So tonight in honor of the late Michael Jackson I would like to post a link to the Thriller video on YouTube. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have!

A glimpse into the future. Oh no!

So today after swim lessons Brea and I visited one of my best friends. She has two boys and her niece was there. Brea has a blast when we go over there and today was no different. They were all running around playing.

First Brea comes in the living room eating a Nestle bar saying "Candy" apparently Dennis, Nikki's 4 year old, gave her a whole nestle bar!

Then Dennis comes into the living room and tells me to "come here." When I get up and go in his room Brea and him are laying in the bed watching TV!

Later we are outside and Dennis is driving his little jeep around. Brea runs up to the jeep, Dennis stops and Brea climbs in and off they go. Around the yard of course!

What is going on here! It is almost like Brea has a little boyfriend. I am sure you can imagine the thoughts running through my head. One day all of this is going to happen (well hopefully not the second one!), but definitely the rest and then it won't be as innocent as now.

I just wonder if it will still be Dennis driving the jeep!

No Throw Review!

If your toddler is anything like mine than you spend a lot of time picking things up off the floor! Especially the sippy cup. I don't know what it is, but it seems like this is her favorite past-time. I think she just likes to watch me pick it up over and over again.

Wouldn't you love to find a product that prevents the sippy cup (or bottle) from actually hitting the floor? Well, have I got a product for you!

I received a leopard print no-throw to review earlier this week. My first thought when looking at it was "oh no it has velcro." I just knew that Brea would pull the velcro off making the no-throw obsolete. I was thrilled to find out that this was not the case. She pulled at it once or twice, but did not undo it. After that she was more worried about what was in the cup than she was about the velcro piece. After she was finished drinking she just threw the cup down as usual, but this time I didn't have to pick it up. Instead her sippy cup hung from the car-seat until she was ready for more and then she could easily get the cup by pulling on the tether! I think that the best thing was I didn't have to worry about searching the car for the sippy cup when I got home or worse yet forgetting the sippy cup after it had slid under a seat!

The no-throw would be especially helpful for long car rides. I can not tell you how convenient this would have been for our trip to South Carolina. There were quite a few times I had to unbuckle while we were going down the interstate to try and find her sippy in the back seat. I know that this is really unsafe and that I was extremely lucky not to be involved in a car accident during this time. Now thanks to no-throw that is one less risk I will have to take on our next road trip!

The no-throw was also convenient for restaurants. I just tied it to the high-chair and it worked perfectly. I am sure that it will also come in handy at summer events as I can use the no-throw on her stroller. It will probably even save money because I will be a lot less likely to lose it in the crowds.

As you can tell I am definitely pro no-throw. It worked great for me and it is definitely worth trying it out!

Buy it: You can buy directly from their website at no-throw or at most Walgreens location! You can find a complete list of stores at the no-throw site!

I would love to hear how this product would help you and your family out!

Fancy Fortune Cookies Review and Giveaway!

Have you ever heard of flavored fortune cookies? I had not until I came across Fancy Fortune cookies! They have lots of colors and flavors available. You can even get your fortune cookies dipped in chocolate!

Fancy fortune cookies are available for all occasions! You can even personalize the fortunes inside to support your event. Some events you might consider using fancy fortune cookies include weddings, birthdays, fundraisers, and much much more! Take a minute and take a look for yourself they provide lots of great ideas on their site.

My thoughts on Fancy Fortune Cookies . .
I was fortunate enough to be able to review fancy fortune cookies at the same time as my Party for a cause. Erin, from fancy fortune cookies, was great and worked with me all the way to make sure my fortune cookies would match up with my fundraiser. I chose blue and pink because those colors make most people think of babies. I also personalized my fortunes. All of the fortunes referenced helping children, your community, and the importance of children for the future. I came up with about 5 sayings on my own and Erin came up with quite a few additional sayings. She also had the great idea to add "support comfort care" at the end of some of the sayings. She was great to work with and quite helpful.

As I stated we had the opportunity to review the pink (raspberry) and the blue (blueberry) fortune cookies! They were very tasty. The flavors added did not over-power the fortune cookie, but instead complimented it. The blueberry fortune cookies were also a great conversation starter as we began to realize our mouths were turning blue! The blueberry would especially be great for a child's birthday party! What child doesn't like it when their tongues turn blue?

The fortunes were also great. I loved that they all directly related to the event that I was hosting. People were encouraged a little more to help a child in need and we raised quite a bit of money and items for Comfort Care.

Other people's reactions to the flavored fortune cookies were also great. I live in a small town and not many people even knew you could get flavored fortune cookies. To be honest I don't think that anyone who tried these had heard of them. Many people were interested in how to order them and how it all worked. So maybe we will be seeing them around more often now!

All in all I would have to say this is a great product and you should check out fancy fortune for your next event!
