Disturbing Restaurant Themes that boast the Unhealthy

Wow I just saw an tweet about a law suit between the "Heart Attack Grill" and the "Heart Stopper's Sports Grill!" The "Heart Attack Grill" is accusing the "Heart Stopper's Sports Grill" of stealing their idea about having a Unhealthy heart diet theme and name.

Both of these restaurants boast about the health problems that their food can cause. They provide free meals to anyone weighing over 350 pounds!

The "Heart Stopper's Sport's Grill" even goes so far as to have the inside set up as a hospital. Their seats are designed as wheelchairs and they use defibrilators and dialysis machines to decorate.

How are these companies still in business. It amazes me that people actually go to restaurants like this to eat. They are mocking heart disease, which most of us have lost loved ones too.

The Vintage Remedies Guide To Real Food Review

Vintage Remedies Guide to Real Food

The Vintage Remedies Guide to Real Food written by Jessie Hawkins introduces readers to easy ways to make their diets healthier and more nutritious. Jessie Hawkins shows us how to decrease our intake of processed foods while increasing our intake of real foods without turning our lives upside down!

The Vintage Remedies Guide to Real Food provides insights to the modern diet that many people do not consider. Including the effects of processed food on our bodies, how to recognize processed ingredients from real food ingredients, the benefits of replacing processed foods with real foods, and more.

I am one of those people who jump into things whole-heartedly and then realize that it is just too much all at one time. Sadly this usually results in a complete 180 and I am back to all of my old habits. I can definitely see this outcome occurring if I were to attempt to change my diet to real foods overnight. After all, the processed foods were the foods I grew up on.

Thankfully, Jessie Hawkins tackles this very problem. While explaining why changing to real foods is important for our health she also acknowledges that making a drastic change may be to much for most people. The Vintage Guide to Real Food provides small simple changes to take and encourages people to take their time and set there own goals for change.

The Vintage Remedies Guide to Real Food is definitely a book that I would recommend to anyone that would like to change their diet or just learn more about the foods they are eating. I have learned so much while reading The Vintage Remedies Guide to Real Food and can not wait to implement all of the ideas!

Food Inc movie Review

I had an opportunity to watch Food Inc at a friend's house today and felt compelled to share it with all of you. I have recently decided that it was time to change my dietary habits and after watching this movie I know without a doubt that this is the right choice.

Food Inc. is an effort to show consumers just how are food is handled prior to the clean, nice packaging that is displayed at grocery stores. Food Inc shows footage from livestock living areas and slaughter houses. While these images are disturbing I think that it is something everyone should know about.

I thought that these foods were safe and sanitary especially if they had the USDA seal of approval. Now it seems that my beliefs in the system may have been wrong. Thankfully I now have the information I need to make safe choices for my family.

I hope that you will take the time to watch Food Inc. and make your own educated decisions on your food sources.

I received no compensation for this review. I watched this movie at a friend's home and felt it should be shared with others.

Maggie's Pureland Review and Giveaway!

I have seen soapnuts around the blogosphere and they have always piqued my interest. So when Maggie's pureland contacted me with a review opportunity I just couldn't pass it up!

I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to review both the soapnuts and the Lavender Tea Tree liquid soap.

The soapnuts were super easy to use. I just placed 4 of the soapnuts in the included bag and tossed them in with my laundry. The first load had some slightly mildewed clothing mixed in. I had some reservations on using the soapnuts on these, but figured it would be a great way to put it to the test. I am glad I did since the clothes smelled fresh and clean after the first wash. When drying this same load of clothes I forgot to add the dryer sheet. Interestingly the clothes were static free. This never happens to me no dryer sheet usually mean extreme static!

A few interesting facts about soapnuts . . .
"Maggie’s Soap Nuts are actually a dried fruit related to the lychee. People with nut allergies can safely use Soap Nuts! "
"Yes! Maggie's Soap Nuts are low-sudsing and are ideal for high-efficiency washers. "
"Yes! The saponin in Maggie’s Soap Nuts releases quickly into hot water, and more slowly in cold water"

I would definitely recommend soapnuts to others. There are so many pros and I can not think of any cons at all!

The lavender Tea Tree liquid soap worked great too! My clothes smelled fresh and clean and I loved the scent of the Lavender Tea Tree liquid soap! So relaxing and refreshing a great reason for getting the clothes in the wash! I only had to use an ounce of the liquid soap to do a whole load of clothes! A little bit of the Lavender Tea Tree liquid Soap went a long way and left me with clean clothes!

A few interesting facts about the Lavender Tea Tree liquid soap . . .
"No toxic by-products or wastes."
"No man-made chemicals left in the environment or on your clothes and body"
"The fragrance disappears during washing leaving only the wonderful soap nut clean smell"

Now is a great time to purchase from Maggie's Pureland! Just use the code SUMMERPLEASE through May 26th to receive a 30% discount on any Maggie's Pureland products!

YoBaby 3 in 1 meals review and giveaway!

I am always looking for healthy, quick, and easy meals for Brea. The problem is that usually if they are quick and easy they are not healthy. So when I had the opportunity to try YoBaby 3 in 1 meals, I couldn't wait!

YoBaby 3 in 1 meals are made with Yogurt, fruit, and veggies! Who would have thought veggies would mix up well with Yogurt and Fruit? Definitely not me, but I am thrilled to say that they do!

Brea had the opportunity to try the apple & sweet potato and the pear & green beans. I know they don't sound very yummy, but she seemed to be quite impressed. The packaging looks like regular yogurt so when Brea opened the fridge the first thing she wanted was yogurt.

To be honest I was not at all sure how this was going to pan out, but I stirred up the yogurt and gave it to Brea along with a spoon and let her decide for herself. After the first couple of bites she said "This is good." When she was done she went to the fridge to get some more!

WooHoo! YoBaby 3 in 1 meals was a success! Finally I have something quick and easy that is Healthy too!

Want to stock your fridge with YoBaby 3 in 1 meals for the little one in your life? They are available at a wide variety of stores!

Thanks to YoBaby one of Brea's Mommy readers will win the following

Munchie Mug Review and Giveaway!

Brea makes the biggest mess when it comes to snacks. It seems that every time I give her cherrios or other snacks with small pieces more ends up on the floor then in her belly. The majority of the time this is accidental since we all know little hands can be a little hasty! It has gotten to the point that I try to find larger hand held snacks to give her. The biggest problem with this is the larger snacks she prefers are not very healthy.

When I had the opportunity to review the Munchie Mug I was thrilled. The Munchie Mug is shaped like a cup with two interlocking tops. One of the lids serve as a top so that you can keep your child's left over snack fresh for later. The other lid has to overlapping pieces of fabric over the opening so that your child has to reach inside to remove the snack pieces. These pieces of fabric prevent your child from scattering extra pieces accidentally.

The Munchie Mug works great! Now Brea can have puffs, melts, and cherrios without all of the accidental mess.

Cleaning the Munchie Mug was a breeze as it is top rack dishwasher safe!

The only issue that I have had with the Munchie Mugg is that Brea will occasionally remove the screw on lid and then purposely dump the snack. What can I say she is a 2 year old! It would be great if snaps could be added to the sides to prevent little hands from removing the lid.

I would definitely recommend the Munchie Mug to a friend. I do not think that anything will prevent those purposeful messes our toddlers make. It is just a part of growing up, but preventing the accidental messes sure will save some time and energy in my home! WooHoo more time to play!

Found the perfect way to exercise!

Last week I mentioned buying a Barbie Jeep for Miss Brea. I really shouldn't have spent the money, but at the same time it was a great buy. I have now decided that the Barbie Jeep may have been my best investment of the summer.

Why you ask. Well Brea is tall enough to reach the pedals, but not very good at the steering aspect. We also live in a mobile home park so she usually rides her riding toys around the park (with me walking with her of course). This could have been a really big problem, but instead I ran with it. Quite literally in fact!

Now everyday Brea wants to ride the jeep and I get the pleasure of jogging beside it and helping her steer. So Brea has her fun and mommy gets her exercise.

I have finally found the perfect way to exercise with no real way to get out of it. Well at least not on a regular basis.

Let me know how you incorporate your children in your exercise routine. I would love some more ideas!

Emails from the future!

I am so tired of receiving emails that are dated for the future. I actually got one today that was dated 10/11/37 today talking about tax credits! Like I really want to think about 2037.

Yeah I get that these people are just trying to get up top on the email and stay there, but here are the problems with this method of advertising . . .
1. If you can't get the date right why would I think you can get your product right!
2. You are wasting my time and making it difficult to find the emails I am looking for.
3. Your being caught by the spam police and ending up in my spam folder (Thankfully!)
4. You are not confident enough in your own product or advertising skills to even make me interested.
5. Once I see the date I delete the email.

Who knows some of these emails may have grabbed my attention enough for me to click through if they had been sent with a little class.

Do people really get pulled in by these emails or does everyone just delete them?

What do you do?

Woohoo! Babysitter for Mom's Nite Out!

I am so excited I found a babysitter for Mom's Nite Out! I get to head out to Charlottesville to the mall where they are having a Mom's Nite Out event. I can't wait to connect with other mom's and have a fun nite out! Trying to talk some friends into joining me, but i am going to have fun regardless.

What are you doing for National Mom's Nite Out?

Too Much Stuff and not enough space!

As most of you know I have been trying to reorganize my home. I have decided that one of my biggest problems is that I have way too much stuff and not enough space. So this week I have been focusing on throwing stuff out, giving it away, or getting it ready to sell, but in addition to that I have been trying to come up with ways to optimize my space. You see I had very little storage space in my home. So I added shelves and stackable cubes in my living room. I would love to add a  corner tv stand, but I fear my TV is too large for that. Although, I may put one in my bedroom. I also plan to add a small toy-box for Brea's toys and the rest will have to stay in her room!

I would love to hear your ideas for space optimization for your home. Leave me comment and let me know. Please!

Making a difference can be so simple!

Sometimes we forget how easy it is to make a difference in someone's life. It could be the kind words we say to the stranger on the street. Maybe the hug we give to our friend in the store. Maybe telling our children we love them everyday. Or maybe just a simple phone call made to a friend in need (even if we don't know they need it).

Today I want to thank Jammie at The Neat Things In Life for writing about Matt Kennon's song The Call! I am greatful that I took a moment and listened to this beautiful song because it reminded me of how easy it is to affect someone's life in a positive way.

I hope that you will take a moment and listen for yourself and let me know what you think! Right now you can download The Call for free! I you enjoy this as much as I did!

Disclosure: I did not receive any compensation at all for this post. This post is based on my opinion and my opinion only.

Yo Yo mini lip gloss review and giveaway!

I had an awesome opportunity to review the Yo Yo Lip Gloss. These lip glosses appealed to me for so many reasons. As most of you know I have a two year old daughter which means I always have my hands full and never have time to dig for lip gloss. Secondly my pocket book is a disaster even if I did have time to dig I would probably give up before I found it. For these reasons I have not bothered buying lip gloss in quite awhile even though I have always enjoyed using it.

When I saw the Yo Yo Mini Lip gloss I knew my problems were solved. These nifty tiny tubes of gloss are on a retractable string that you can attach to your belt loop or your pocket! That means no more digging through your pockets or pocketbooks to find your lip gloss! What more can a lady ask for.

Of course you know me there is always more! These lip glosses also have sparkles in them! They are tinted and they taste great! Yo Yo Mini Lip Glosses are available in

One thing that I was concerned about when I first saw them was that you squeeze them to get the gloss out. While that is not at all an issue, I was concerned that I would be wasting lip gloss by accidentally squeezing it when the top was on. After opening the lip gloss I found that there is a small stopper on the lid which prevents the lip gloss from coming out when the lid was on.

I was also excited to find that Yo Yo is coming out with many new products later this year! This will include eyeshadow, retractable lip sticks, and more. So be sure to keep checking back for more great products!

I would definitely recommend the Yo Yo Mini Lip Gloss to my friends, family, and readers!

Would you like your own Yo Yo Mini Lip Gloss you can buy them by clicking here!

Its giveaway time! This time we are going for 3 winners! Each winner will receive 4 Yo Yo Mini Retractable Lip Glosses and a Yo Yo T-Shirt!

Here come the carnivals!

Brea and I went to our first carnival of the year and I just had to share the pictures! She had a blast of course! I can't wait to get her to Disney World I can't imagine how excited she will be!

The twirling cups
It makes me dizzy, but didn't bother her a bit!
Check out her hands she even figured out how to get it to turn!

She rode the croc too
It was a little jerky, but she did just fine!

No pictures to share of the mega slide (I had to go down with her) She made me climb up those stairs 3 times. Keep in mind I am scared of heights and it was really really high up. I thought I was going to have a heart attack every time she stumbled a bit! Guess what! Yeah thats right it scared me, but she did just fine!

Her favorite ride of all had to be the dragon roller coaster! She rode it over and over! I have a couple of pics, but none of just her so I could not post them. I can't believe my 2 year old already likes roller coasters!

Brea had a bubble blastin' time!

Hope you enjoy the pictures from Brea's adventures in "bubble land! She received a bubble machine in place of Candy from her daddy on Easter and as you can see it was definitely a hit! Who knew that something as simple as bubbles could be so much fun!

I would love to hear your child's favorite bubble play! Leave me a comment so Brea and I can give it a go!

Pearlparadise.com Review & Giveaway! . . . The perfect gift for Mother's Day!

I should start off by saying that I am a jeans and t-shirt gal. Very seldom do I have the time or the energy to get all dressed up. So when Pearlparadise.com http://www.pearlparadise.com/ contacted me for a review I really had to consider whether or not I could find a piece that I would be able to wear all the time and not just on those occasional days that I am dressed to the nines. When I saw Black Freshwater Pearl Bracelet I knew that this was the bracelet for me!

The Black Freshwater Pearl Bracelet is elegant and classy, but will does not look out of place with jeans and a t-shirt either! It even seems that wearing the Black Fresh Water Pearl bracelet gives me a little more bounce in my step and a little extra confidence! After all, we all know how mom's get caught up in the life of our little one's. Sometimes that means no time to primp before we leave home, but now at least I can take a second and wear my pearls!

What more could a mom ask for. Oh, but wait there is more. This bracelet is well made too. The clasp attaches securely and I do not need to be constantly concerned about it falling off. This is really important to me because when I am chasing after my 2 year old I don't have time to think about the jewelry on my wrist!

Are you looking for something for that special mom in your life? Or maybe as a mom you would like to treat yourself?

You can purchase your very own Black Freshwater Pearl Bracelet for $61.00 at Pearlparadise.com
