"If Your Child Eats This Book, Everything Will Still Be Okay" book review

With the economy the way it is the one place we don't and should not try to make cuts is our children's healthcare. With this said, wouldn't you love to have someone you could go to for advice about that rash or bug bite before rushing off to the Emergency Department or your pediatrician's office?

Lara Zibners, MD wrote "If Your Kid Eats This Book, Everything Will Still Be Okay," just for this purpose. "Twenty-five million kids in the United States are taken to the ER each year, and more than 50 percent of these visits may be unneccessary." Could you imagine the money that could be saved if we could cut out even a small portion of the unneccessary visits.

Please remember that while this book is a great guide and may prevent unnessary medical expenses it is just that, a guide. This book should not replace healthcare and if you feel you child's condition needs immediate care or if you are not comfortable with the books recommendations than by all means call your doctor or 911 immediately. One of Zibners's four rules include "trust you gut" so if you feel time is of the essense don't hesitate seek medical attention immediately. After all it is your child's life that is at stake.

With that said "If Your Child Eats This Book, Everything Will Still Be Okay," covers most everything a parent may need to know. Zibners includes everything from common newborn concerns to childhood respiratory conditions, to fever, and much much more.

In each section you will not only find the medical issues, but Zibners also dispels many myths associated with the issues. Zibners also adds highlighted notes that may be marked "warnings," "emergency," and "911." "Warnings" provides helpful information to keep your child safe by preventing the injury. "Emergency" lets you know that you should probably call your pediatrician if this is occuring. Lastly "911" lets you know that it is time to put down the book and call 911!

The information included in "If Your Child Eats This Book, Everything Will Still Be Okay" is all indexed in the back of the book. This is important because if something is occuring right now parents need an easy way to find the needed information quickly.

Overall I think this is a very informative book that will benefit all parents and caregivers. Not only will this information give you peace of mind but may also save you lots of money!
